MEET THE CENTRAL COAST TEAM
Mathematics, Extension 1 Mathematics, Extension 2 Mathematics, Biology, PDHPE
Hi! My name is Cassidy and I have just completed my HSC at Gosford High School in 2013. I am really interested in both Maths and Biology, so I have just begun a double degree of Engineering (Mechanical) with Science majoring in Biology at Macquarie University. With Biology, I am hoping to go into the study of diseases and immunobiology, whilst also completing my engineering units with the hope of one day being a Biomedical Engineer. Throughout year 12 I worked incredibly hard to achieve an ATAR of 95.30, however I do know what it was like to struggle through a subject I had absolutely no confidence in, and the frustration it caused, as I have never been an English person. Because of this I am willing to help others overcome their own struggles with the areas I can provide help and advice in, so everyone can achieve the educational goals they pursue!
K-12 English, Advanced English, K-10 Maths, PDHPE, Legal studies, Studies of religion and Dance.
Hi, my name is Jessika and I graduated from MacKillop College in 2014 with an ATAR of 95.25, four band six honour listings, as well as two callback nominations into the exemplary HSC Dance major works showcase. Having also won the Vice Chancellors Scholarship for Academic excellence, I am now studying Bachelor of Laws (honours) combined with a Bachelor of Business at the University of Newcastle.
I approach my studies with a can do attitude, something I believe of prime importance as I encourage my students to do the same, allowing them to maximise their potential. Having been a recent HSC student, not only am I able to assist students with my knowledge of the NSW K-12 syllabus, I am also well aware of it.
he many stresses encountered by students and am thus able to make the students experience at school as enjoyable and stress free as possible by giving them helpful advice on study techniques, how to organise their time effectively and by helping them break difficult workloads into manageable segments.
As a tutor, I take pride in seeing each individual student reach their personal goals and aspirations, something I look forward to helping you with!

My name is Leon, I am 20 years old and currently completing my first year of a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney. I completed my HSC at Green Point Christian College in 2015 with very satisfying results and a world of knowledge and experience across my various subjects. I have a true passion for the subjects I tutor and this passion is what drives me to pass on my knowledge to any student who wants to gain a better grasp on the material, improve his or her results, or extend their existing ability further. I believe that everybody has a unique style of learning and I will strive to create a relaxed and positive environment tailored to the individual; one that not only encourages learning, but also fosters development in critical thinking, effective communication of ideas, and holistic understanding, all of which are essential to success in school and beyond. Having been a leader in the Scouting and Peer Support movements, I have taught all kinds of people and am of the firm resolve that regardless of what difficulties you may have, everybody possesses to potential to reach and exceed their goals with the right support and the right approach to learning. I look forward to being an approachable tutor and mentor, and equipping you to not only survive but thrive in your studies.

Hello, my name is Darby Clark and I am currently studying my final year of a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree at the Australian Catholic University. I have a major in both Ancient and Modern History and a minor in English. I have a passion for education and love to help others gain a deeper understanding of topics I love.
Year 7-12 Maths (Advanced Maths), Business, Sciences (7-10) and Physics.
Hello! My name is Jeremy and I recently completed my HSC at Green Point Christian College in 2016. As a recent graduate, I have a firm understanding of the 7-10, Prelim, and HSC syllabuses. Starting in 2017, I will be doing an ‘Advanced Science (Honours)’ degree at UNSW. I have a real passion for Maths and Science, as well as skills in Business Studies, and strongly believe in the value of education, for both myself and others in these areas. As a former ‘Cadet Sergeant’ in the Australian Air Force Cadets, I was able to grow in my understanding of the value and importance of education and youth development, with over a year and a half of teaching experience, and four full weeks of leadership and ‘Instructional Technique’ training. As a result, I was able to develop my own teaching abilities, by teaching Cadets from the ages of 13- 19, in both large, and small classes. I hope to see you soon!

Hi, I'm Bonnie! I recently completed my HSC in 2016 at MacKillop Catholic College Warnervale and received an ATAR of 93.55. I also obtained three honour roll listings for Society and Culture, CAFS and PDHPE as well as placing in the state for Community and Family Studies. This year I will be continuing my education at The University of Newcastle. As I have recently completed year 12, I used a variety of techniques for each of my subjects to grasp a clear understanding of what was being taught in the classroom, but also how to best display this knowledge in exams and assessments. Therefore I know first-hand that everyone learns in a different way and I hope to help students find a style of learning, revision and exam preparation which best suits their individual needs and goals at all levels.I have a passion for leaning and I want to use my skillset and experience to share this with other students to help them reach their full potential and make their studies more enjoyable.
Primary subjects, Mathematics (Ext 1)
Hi my name is Matthew, I attended Green Point Christian College and graduated in 2011. I went on to study electrical engineering at UNSW. During high school I was interested in both engineering and teaching. Firstly I like maths, science and design which pushed me toward engineering yet at the same time I really I enjoy teaching and helped out at a youth group. While I was doing work experience I realised electrical engineering wasn’t for me and decided to study teaching. I still had to finish my work experience so I found another company who specialised in intelligent graphics displays. Overall I spent a year there, initially interning and then going on to do work as an electrical technician. At the start of 2017 I began studying a Master’s of Primary teaching and am enjoying it thoroughly. Personally I have a gentle and patient nature, and I thought this would be best suited to primary teaching.I believe my degree in electrical engineering has given me a strong foundation in maths and science, and how to apply it. As a tutor I can offer students a deep knowledge of these subjects and their uses. Additionally my current studies in teaching can also help students learn effectively. My personal interests include: Drawing, music, languages such as French and German, most sports including soccer, running, swimming and surfing, and reading including authors such as Patrick Rothfuss, Jim Butcher, Matthew Reilly and Terry Pratchett
K-10: Maths, 11-12: Biology, Business and Legal studies
Hi! My name is Montana and I recently graduated from Lakes Grammar, where I was the school caption. Upon completing my HSC, I was awarded two honour roll listings for Legal Studies and Business Studies, whilst before sitting my final exams, I accepted an early offer into a double law degree at Macquarie University where I now study. Throughout my years of schooling, I have enjoyed helping others with concepts and speaking through problems, as I believe this is one of the best ways to learn. Through completing my HSC only last year and acquiring my entry into Law, I believe I have a sound knowledge on both the content and requirements of current students. Additionally, the organisational and studying tips I used throughout high school and into my Tertiary studies, will be beneficial not only in one subject, but hopefully the students entire schooling experience.
I am a university student studying a Bachelor of Science and business at UNSW. My major is physics, which is certainly difficult but intriguing nonetheless. I chose this based on my time at Gosford High School, where I enjoyed learning physics, chemistry and a little bit of math. I’ve balanced this with business which I also studied in high school. My interests stretch far beyond science however. I’ve spent plenty of hours throughout my life playing numerous sports, currently soccer but I’ve tried cricket, tennis, sailing and everything in-between. I also surf year round and spend many summer days at the beach. I try to travel and holiday as much as my bank account allows. I’ve recently returned from a summer eating and beach going through Italy, France and Spain. I enjoy road tripping up and down the Australian coast, or heading inland towards the snow. I find tutoring rewarding; it continues my learning and helps renew fundamental skills and knowledge required for my studies and throughout life. Furthermore I enjoy teaching and helping others, and see tutoring as a great way to work doing something I enjoy.

Hi! My name is Madeline, and I’m 22 years old. I attended Gosford High School, studying Mathematics, English Advanced, Chemistry, French Beginners and German Continuers for my HSC, and have been studying primary education for the past four years at the University of Technology, Sydney. Throughout all my years at school, I was often surrounded by supportive, caring, and engaging teachers, and it was them that fuelled my passion for education. Because of this, not only have I been studying education at university, but I have also worked as a private tutor since 2014, working with students from six to sixteen on a range of topics in maths, English, science, geography, and history, as well as providing homework help and preparation support for NAPLAN.
I consider myself to be a compassionate person, so I always focus on building a good rapport with the students I tutor, making sure that they feel understood and valued, and, when appropriate, encourage them to help direct our learning experiences based on their personal interests, and strengths and areas to improve based on self-reflection. Through this, I hope that I can support academic and personal growth, and instil a love of learning.
I look forward to working with you.

Hi, I am Michael. After I completing the High School Certificate in 2017 at Narara Valley High School, having distinctions in Advanced Mathematics and Extension 1 Mathematics as well as a Merit in Physics, I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Science Majoring in Mathematics at Macquarie University. I have a passion for people leading me to want to help people achieve their goals which I believe tutoring can achieve this. During my high school life I was a school leader from year 10 to year 12, playing for the school cricket team as well as for the soccer team. I continue to play cricket today as well as referee soccer for the Central Coast Referees Branch. I wish for the best in all people in their education and for me assisting in them achieving it.
Beginning of this year I moved out of home and to the coast to start studying Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Newcastle.
I have always wanted to go into some form of teaching or tutoring as my main goal in life and my career is to help people and watch them grow. The happiness of an individual achieving what they never thought they could is the greatest thing to witness in my opinion, and I hope to develop a friendly atmosphere, as I would like the students to also been seen as equals and not view me as the superiority.

Hi! My name is Jess and I’m a mature-age student currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at The University of Newcastle. Last year I was inspired to change direction with my studies and pursue a career in education after an amazing teacher changed my life. Without her support, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I realised the difference that one great teacher can make. As a tutor, and future teacher, I hope to support and encourage young people in such a way that brings them the same sense of achievement, pride and confidence that my education has given me. As a mother, I understand that parents only want to see their child/ren thrive. Every child is unique, with their own learning style and educational goals; and I’m extremely passionate about creating a positive learning environment that enables each individual student to reach their full potential. I have a warm, enthusiastic personality, and enjoy finding fun, engaging ways to motivate students and get them excited about their learning. I specialise in humanities/social science subjects, with Legal Studies being an absolute passion and strength of mine. I can also assist with essay writing, research, assessment tasks, study skills and exam preparation. I believe it’s not only important to give students the knowledge they need to succeed academically, but also the self-confidence to believe they can, and strategies to help them build resilience so they can cope with any challenges along the way.

Hi, my name is Max and I have completed a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) degree at the University of New South Wales. I have also have studied maths and physics; and would be happy to teach these three subjects to primary and high school students. I have been a lab demonstrator at the university, helping students learn the basics of university level chemistry and key lab skills. I completed the HSC in 2012 with excellent results, which was due to hard work from myself and from my teachers. I understand how having an engaging and supportive teacher makes a big difference academically, and I would like to have the opportunity to pass on what I learned from my teachers and from my experiences during the HSC to other students. I find teaching students an enjoyable experience and I am dedicated and enthusiastic in helping students understand difficult concepts and achieving their academic goals.

Hi there! My name is Laura. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Majoring in Human Biology) with a Bachelor of Law, after recently transferring from a Bachelor of Medical Science. I graduated from High School in 2016 with Band 6's in Food Technology (where I was also top 10 in the state), PDHPE, Biology and English Advanced, and Band 5's in Advanced Mathematics and Chemistry. Having developed a great interest in the areas which I studied in school (and further what I study now in University), I also have a great passion to help other people understand these areas, which I think is one of the most rewarding life experiences. I am constantly finding myself applying things that I have learnt and things that I study into many aspects of my life including the sporting world, at work and interacting with others. A big thing that I learnt during High School, and continue to learn at University, is that everyone learns things in different ways. Thus I am interested in working to the needs of others when trying to teach, with an aim of developing the genuine interests of students in the areas that they study.

My name is Mel, I’m 19 and a first-year student at the University of Newcastle studying nutrition and food science. I completed my HSC in 2016 covering a wide range of subjects including advanced English, advanced math, biology, drama, ancient history, extension history and preliminary chemistry. I have a passion for improving the health and education of our youth, with a long-term goal of working with young people to educate them on nutrition and healthy lifestyles. I completed a TAFE accredited course for peer literacy tutoring through years 9 and 10 at high-school, which included working with kids from all levels of literacy to improve skills and confidence. I was also able to work with peers with learning difficulties, and some students with language barriers. This lead to my involvement in an HSC reader-writer program from years 9-11. I enjoy customising learning methods for students and understand that personalisation of content can greatly improve overall comprehension. I look forward to expanding my own knowledge through helping others

Hi, my name is Ben and I completed my HSC at Wyong Christian Community School in 2016. I am currently studying a Batchelor of Primary Education at the Australian Catholic University and I am currently in my second year. I have had the experience within schools to help and assist students in their learning because of my degree. Within my degree I have experienced what it is like to teach students and to understand how to help students with their knowledge and understanding. I am passionate with assisting in the process of gaining understanding of all Primary subjects and to be a role model for the students. I have had many experiences working with kids through the opportunities I have had during work experience and volunteering at soccer refereeing, working with the Central Coast Mariners doing soccer within schools, and assisting in classrooms settings at three separate schools. During these experiences I have learnt how to interact with children, assist in learning, and I have gained a broader knowledge of teaching in a small group and one on one setting.

Hi! My name is Peter Hill, student at Macquarie University studying Ancient History with Secondary Education. I have a strong passion for all things history and anthropology, but also have a keen interest in science. I am very flexible in figuring out the best way for students to study and learn their material, allowing for a more self-guided learning and work process. I am also something of a traditional instructor however, so I have no problems with being a guiding force when the occasion requires it for my students. I am very proficient in explaining complex subjects by breaking them down into their simpler components, allowing me to transition the learning of any key information that may have been missed in class smoothly into tutoring. Essay writing skills I also place large emphasis on as this is where students show off their ability to think, thus I would consider it an integral part of preparing students for exams and assessments. Adversity, Challenge and Encouragement are core to my ethos around teaching, as students only grow in strength of knowledge and skill by pushing themselves forward and potentially outside their comfort zone. It is important to encourage students along the way of course, but in a way that excites them to dig deep and be confident in themselves in both schooling and other integral parts of their lives. Confidence has always been a key element in my growth and development of my personal passions like snorkelling and singing, but more importantly, it has helped me grow as a person and throw myself into my own studies. I am excited to help encourage others to do the same.

Hi, I'm James! I'm 28 years old, and currently studying a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary)/Science with Honours, majoring in Biology. I am kind, hard working and have an affinity for being able to get to know people rather quickly. I have experience in tutoring, and have previously worked in a before and after school care, where I aided children academically, socially and emotionally to achieve goals that as team we set. I believe in getting to know each student as an individual before academic work can be introduced. This ensures that students are comfortable with me, inviting them to feel confident in our relationship. This allows me to find the key to enhancing their academic success, be it social, academic or emotional, and seek out techniques that will best aid the students to achieve their goals. I enjoy science and mathematics, and as a result, many of my teaching techniques have a "hands on" or "real life" approach, that many students find very helpful to visualise over theoretical concepts. I also try to keep concepts learnt close to the syllabus, so when the student leaves my tutelage, it flows with the learning taking place in their classroom.

Hey there Reader! My name is Joshua Townsend and I am a 3rd year Aerospace Engineering student at UNSW. I completed my HSC at St Edwards College in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed Extension 1 and 2 Mathematics as well as Physics. These topics come across into my degree often and I hope to one day apply all my knowledge into the development of aircraft, spacecraft, and rovers. I enjoy working with electronics and have previously helped teach electrical engineering courses at UNSW. In my spare time I enjoy playing, working, and customising guitars as well as doing DIY electronics projects. I utilise my passion for my degree within my tutoring, showing students what applications Mathematics and Physics have in real life. As a student during HSC (and currently as a university student) I have found that there are two main types of learners. I will show you how to go from ‘surface learning’ to ‘deep learning’ and will help you lay down the foundations required in order to build your structure of understanding. Learning is something we can all enjoy, and it is my goal to help students be as passionate about learning as I am.

Hello, my name is Olivia Stolz and I have just completed my HSC in 2018, achieving
an ATAR of 95.35 and the Alan Martin Memorial Award for Academic Excellence
(DUX). My hard work enabled me to pursue my dream course at The University of
Sydney, a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Media and
Communications), enrolled in the Dalyell Scholars stream. After experiencing the
satisfaction of fulfilling my primary goals through dedication and determination, I was
inspired to pursue tutoring as a part-time job whilst attending university, with the
intention of assisting others in the attainment of their own personal ambitions.
Following my introduction to Open High School in Year 9, after my school was
unable to continue running French as course, I was able to begin self-directed study,
a habit which has undoubtedly assisted me in achieving excellent academic results
as well as furthering my understanding of the unique learning styles of individuals,
which is something I will consider with each student that I tutor. I am a very
approachable, patient, understanding, and positive person, who can tutor those with
learning difficulties/disabilities (as my brother is autistic), and would love to help you
in achieving your hopes and dreams!

BRONTE DE ZILVA
Primary School, Year 7-10 English
Hi my name is Bronte. I recently graduated from Gosford High School in 2018 completing my HSC and achieved an atar of 95.3. I studied Advanced English, General Mathematics, Studies of Religion II, Textiles and Design as well as Business Studies. Throughout my high school career I gained many skills that led to my high achievement that I am so excited to impart on young students. I understand that while many children find schoolwork frustrating and difficult, the feeling that comes with success is worth all of the effort. I can help students whether they are struggling with their homework, don't understand the methods of their teacher, or even help with the NAPLAN and selective high school placement exams. Every student has different needs and often learn at different paces. Some students thrive with a more varied approach. Possibly a more structured lesson or a fun approach can make it easier for a child to learn and reach their potential. I look forward to meeting your child and assisting their education in whichever way they need.

Hi! My name is Kylie. I am a mature-age student in my final year of a Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Swinburne University. I currently work with groups of primary school children supporting their social and emotional needs. Working with these amazing children inspired me to fulfil a dream of becoming a teacher so that I can continue to encourage and support young people. I believe that children are capable and competent active learners. I believe that when teaching children academic skills that it is just as important to build their self-confidence and teach them strategies to build resilience, enabling them to cope with any challenges that they may encounter. As a tutor I aim to support each child’s unique qualities and abilities to encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe in supporting children to learn in a creative and fun way.

I graduated from year 12 in 2018 as College Dux, earning a 96.95 ATAR and entry into a Bachelor of Law and International Studies at UTS where I currently study full-time. I have a genuine passion for learning and I hope to inspire in you and lead you towards your best possible marks. I have an extensive understanding of my subject areas, receiving 4 honour listings, as I know both what content is needed, but more importantly, how to apply it. I am a friendly, easy-going and kind person and I will put in all my effort to see you succeed. I know very well that school can be overwhelming and challenging, so I will ensure that what I am teaching you is both suited to your needs, but also challenges you to improve to get the results you desire!

Hi my name is Amy! I attended Lake Munmorah High where I excelled in Ancient History (1st in class) and Advanced English (4th). I'm now undertaking a Primary Teaching degree (Honours) at the University of Newcastle. I was working at KFC Lakehaven for 5 years until 2018. This job allowed me to get a perspective on working whilst making some great friends.
As a tutor with STN, I hope to not only further my teaching career, but make a difference in children’s lives. I aim to help with study strategies, homework and personal development.
